1. How do I apply for a Orkufrelsi card?
At the top of the Orkan website there is a Orkufrelsi Sign in and Registration bar. You can apply on-line by clicking Nýskráning. There you have to put in your Kennitala and fill in the necessary information. The card will be sent to you by mail within a few working days along with instructions on how to use it.
2. How do I activate my Orkufrelsi card?
At the top of the Orkan homepage there is a Orkufrelsi Sign in and Registration bar. If you click on Innskráning (Sign In) you will be asked for your Kennitala and your Lykilorð (Password). At the beginning your password, to get into your Orkufrelsi account, is the last four numbers of your Orkufrelsi card. Next click on Stillingar. For security reasons you have to change your password by putting in the current password, Núverandi lykilorð and a new password two times Nýtt Lykilorð.

3. How do I put money into my Orkufrelsi card?
You have to transfer the desired amount to the Orkufrelsi bank account: # 301-26-36100, kennitala: 590269-1749 (Arion Bank Kringlan branch).
You can do that either with online bank or by arranging a transfer with your bank's cashier. Note that it can take up to one hour to process the transferred amount.
4. Does the Orkufrelsi card cost anything?
No, the card is absolutely free of charge. And the 3 kr. discount is for both gas and diesel oil.
Please note that the company does not reimburse amounts that have been transferred on to the Orkufrelsi bank account.
5. My PIN number does not work, what is wrong?
If you are using Orkufrelsi and the PIN number does not work the reason is probably that you have the wrong PIN number. Please note that you can get your PIN number when you sign in to the Orkufrelsi web page. Please note that you can not change the PIN number, but you can change the password, Lykilorð, to sign in to the Orkufrelsi web page.
6. I have transferred an amount to the Orkufrelsi account but still my card was rejected.
It can take up to one hour for the transferred amount to be processed. If you have transferred the amount from an account that has not the same kennitala as the card, the transaction might take longer than usual. If the amount is not on your Orkufrelsi card the next working day please contact us by e-mail or telephone and we would be happy to look into the matter.

7. It seems that too much money has been charged to my debit/credit card.
You have been purchasing fuel at an Orkan gas station and there are two separate amounts that have been charged to your bill and you recognize only one of them. What is the explanation?
One of the amounts is probably an authorization amount ranging from 1.000-13.000 ISK. This amount is a dummy transaction which is transferred from your account at the beginning when you get authorization at the automat before you pump the fuel. In most cases this amount is immediately transferred back to your account when you have finished pumping the fuel, and the right amount is charged to your account depending on how much fuel was pumped. Sometimes the banking system does not process the transaction right away depending on how busy it's computer system is. The amount is then credited later, and the banking system allows it self up to nine working days to make the transaction. Usually it takes 2-3 working days.
